Thank you for attending the Making Performance Count workshop on Monday February 9. We would appreciate your feedback on the workshop and its usefulness. | PDR - Academic Standards Workshop Making Performance Count Monday 9 February 2009 Banquet Hall South, University Club The University is promoting a strong focus on higher performance as part of its long term strategy. This goal is strongly dependent on each individual’s capacity to reflect the University’s priorities and meet the standards of performance required of them. Performance management plays a critical role in promoting excellent outcomes and in identifying performance disparities. In the case of academics, performance management can be a little more complex given the need to clearly define performance requirements and provide effective feedback on outcomes. The shift to a new academic career structure will also require more careful consideration of performance expectations and review. This one day workshop has therefore been designed to provide academic leaders with an opportunity to: - review the current changes to the Professional Development Review system (PDR)
- explore the implications of the new Performance Appraisal Report (PAR)
- commence the process of clarifying faculty-consistent performance standards for academic and research active staff
- identify strategies for embedding performance processes into school and faculty systems and recognition schemes.
The workshop is suited to deans, heads of school, associate deans, deputy deans and heads of research groups / centres. It is highly desirable that several representatives from each school should be present to commence the process of developing school-specific academic performance standards. | |

...The best thing for Heads to do, unless they have complete control over the funding formula for their Faculty, is get their Head of School to check the drivers, and perhaps the formulae. The drivers in this version are for 2008.
