How the University Works: Human Resources Issues
Intended Audience:Any staff member who would like to better understand the role of Human Resources, Equity and Diversity and Employee Relations, and how this affects them as an employee. Workshop Description:This workshop will provide you with a broad overview of the operation of Human Resources at UWA. Issues covered will include:
- Human Resources - what is it?
- Staff development and organisational development services
- Equity and diversity - your rights and responsibilities
- Enterprise Bargaining - what is it and how do you fit into it?
- Positions & Salaries - Classification, promotion, remuneration, salary progression, salary packaging
- Personnel issues
- Safety and Health issues
Intended Outcomes:By the end of this session, participants will have a better understanding of:
- How to access HR services and information
- Staff development and organisational development opportunities
- Equity issues, policies and procedures
- Safety and Health issues
- Enterprise bargaining, and
- Employee entitlements

Staff from Human Resources Cost:UWA staff members and UWA affiliates will receive priority in gaining access to this session. Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees.
We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee. Number of Places:30
