Financial Management - Audit, Risk and Controls

Intended Audience:

All UWA staff responsible for the supervision or management of other staff.

Workshop Description:

A full day workshop will explore managers how strategic financial management should be undertaken. Topics to be covered include: business case development; risk management; UWA Tax planning; financial governance and reporting; contract management and procedural controls. This is a must for any manager with responsibility for finances.

Intended Outcomes:

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
  • Develop an understanding of financial management responsibilities
  • Develop a broad understanding of the policies, procedures and process that can be applied in a financial management role, particularly related to auditing, risk management and controls
  • Anticipate and mitigate financial risks or assess the financial implications of decisions

Key Activities:

The workshop will comprise short information components followed by activities and discussions. The focus will be on participant interaction and interchange.

Cost:

UWA staff members and UWA affiliates will receive priority in gaining access to this session. Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees. We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee.
