Cash Handling

Intended Audience:

This workshop is essential for staff with cash handling responsibilities, in particular cash receipting, banking, petty cash and cash advance.

Workshop Description:

Cash Handling is designed to provide staff with cash handling responsibilities the knowledge on the University’s policies and recommended best practise in these processes. Participants will be provided tips on how to address common auditor’s issues.

Intended Outcomes:

After completing this workshop, participants should be able to:
  • Review if current practise aligns with the "best practise".
  • Learn how to avoid finger pointing when things go wrong.
  • Understand the University’s policies and procedures with regards to Cash Receipting, Petty Cash and Cash Advances.
  • Explore the auditor’s areas of concern and learn how to manage the risks involved.

Key Activities:

Hands-on petty cash acquittal process, fun quiz on Finance Manual, examples of common errors made by cash custodians and discussion on the best practise workflow.

Cost:

UWA staff members and UWA affiliates will receive priority in gaining access to this session. Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees. We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee.
