Fantastic Facilitating
Intended Audience:Any member of staff interested in furthering their skills as a designer and presenter of programs Workshop Description:Facilitation has become a key skill for anyone who is in a team, leading a team, provide professional development and/or training. This one and a half day workshop offers participants to learn basic facilitation skills. Features of the program include: understanding facilitation, conducting a needs analysis, planning a workshop, beginning and ending a workshop, using basic facilitative skills and techniques, evaluating a workshop and personal facilitative style. In this workshop participants will also be able to give and receive feedback in facilitation practice sessions. Intended Outcomes:By the end of this workshop participants will be able to: - Appreciate the benefits and applications of facilitation in the workplace
- Identify the most suitable material for a particular program and sequence that material appropriately
- Develop a structured approach to planning, conducting and evaluating facilitative sessions
- Select the most appropriate instructional strategy to facilitate learning
- Create positive learning environments
- Promote participation by using a variety of facilitation techniques
- Understand the importance of adult learning principles
- Identify important presentation skills to enhance their ability as a facilitator
Key Activities: Mini lectures, activity-based learning, group discussions, individual exercises and individual presentations Duration:10.5 hours

- Workshop 2: Thursday 23 July 2009: 9:30am - 4:30pm, and Monday 27 July 2009: 1:00pm - 4:30pm

Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees.
We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee. Number of Places:24
