Basic Resuscitation First Aid for Finance & Resources Staff

Intended Audience:

UWA Finance and Resources staff, and Registrar's Office staff (full time, part time, casual) who have at least a six-month appointment from the time of course enrolment and wish to have a basic understanding of essential first aid.

Workshop Description:

The Basic Resuscitation First Aid is a 3.5 hour course being offered free to eligible UWA Finance and Resources staff, and Registrar's Office staff.

This first aid training offer is not for current UWA First Aid Officers who are

• Required to have a current Senior First Aid certificate (2 day course)
• Expected to continue to be supported by their work area in maintaining their first aid qualifications and competences
• Paid an allowance to be available to provide first aid assistance at the University and to maintain the first aid equipment within their work area

Staff wishing to undertake this training are required to advise the UWA Safety and Health of occasions (work or non work related) in which they were able to render first aid assistance to others

Intended Outcomes:

Participants will learn:-

• D.R.A.B.C.D. action plan
• Recovery position for an unconscious casualty
• Choking
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Recognise and manage heart conditions
• Controlling external bleeding

Cost:

UWA staff members and UWA affiliates will receive priority in gaining access to this session. Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees. We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee.
