Attracting and Recruiting the Best Staff

Intended Audience:

All UWA staff responsible for the supervision or management of other staff.

Workshop Description:

This workshop will introduce a number of changes to selection and recruitment practices at the University. Participants will work in groups to design an effective selection and recruitment strategy for their area, drawing on the principles, protocols and policies that have been recently developed.

Intended Outcomes:

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

• identify UWA’s recruitment policy and practice
• improve their current recruitment practice and comply with UWA’s requirements
• identify the proposed changes to selection and recruitment practices at the University
• consider the implications of proposed changes on own work area and practices
• locate and access HR assistance when recruiting

Key Activities:

This workshop will comprise short information components followed by activities, discussions or case studies. The focus will be on participant interaction and interchange.

Cost:

UWA staff members and UWA affiliates will receive priority in gaining access to this session. Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees. We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee.
