Leading Managers: Excellence in University Supervision and Management
Intended Audience:The programme is designed for professional staff with management responsibilities for people, projects or funds. It is suitable for those working in faculties or central administrative units, particularly those working at Level 5 / 6 and above.
Participants will receive a certificate of participation for the workshops they have attended. Workshop Description:The Leading Managers: Excellence in University Supervision and Management Programme is designed to support UWA staff who are responsible for the wellbeing of other UWA staff, projects and /or financial processes. It will emphasise the management skills required to successfully support UWA’s strategic priorities and is designed to complement the Pathways to Leadership programme and the Introduction to Management programme. Participants will be encouraged to build stronger capabilities relating to the hands-on processes of managing people, projects and finances. This programme will draw on recent reviews of information technology skills, financial practices and the human resource process. It will link to current policies and processes and will support technological skill development as well as conceptual understanding of the critical management processes. Intended Outcomes:- To highlight the core functions of supervisors and managers in managing human and financial resources in an effective manner.
- To promote the UWA processes, policies and with respect to managing human and financial resources.
- To promote good practice and clarify UWA policy with respect to these areas.
- To assist staff to build both technological and practical understanding and skills required to manage both people and resources
Key Activities: - Introduction of key support agencies and experts
- Strong links to university strategy, policy and practice
- An opportunity to network
- Comprises a core programme of one day followed by a range of options to enable customisation to support the individual manager or supervisor.

Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees.
We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee. Number of Places:35
