Forget the Status Quo: Effective Workforce PlanningRelatedIntended Audience:All supervisors and managers who are responsible for staff recruitment and deployment. Workshop Description:Workforce planning is an important method of ensuring your workgroup has the capacity to meet future demands and expectations. The resignation of a staff member can be a particularly good opportunity to review where your work group is heading and the new skills that will be required to meet future challenges. Should the same role be filled in the future? Are there different ways of working to achieve the same goals? Are there issues with supply and demand that need to be addressed? Is this a chance to restructure and think more creatively about the deployment of staff in the unit? Should a succession plan be developed? These and other questions will be explored in this short and focused workshop. Participants will be introduced to some workforce planning strategies and encouraged to review their own work units with respect to the current staffing profile that is operating.
