If this definition fits meetings that you are responsible for, then this programme is for you. It is intended for any person – academic or professional staff - responsible for conducting or chairing meetings or committees, formal or informal. This may include regular meetings or meetings called for a special purpose, such as to consider implementing a change or for purposes such as strategic planning. If you need to call people together to consider information and get agreement on future action - and you wish to achieve better outcomes than you are currently getting , this programme is a must.

Workshop Description:

This 3 hour session will cover
  • Forward planning as a key to meeting success
  • Establishing purpose and process
  • Roles of Chair, Secretary/Recorder and Meeting/Committee members
  • Handling interpersonal dynamics
  • Dealing with difficult situations and people
  • Do’s and don’ts for effective meetings
  • Evaluating a meeting

Intended Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this programme you will:
  • Be able to plan and conduct a successful meeting which will achieve better outcomes
  • Be able to handle difficult meeting dynamics
  • Be confident in your ability to run a successful meeting
  • Be resilient and resourceful in meeting situations
  • Be aware of resources available to assist you

Information presentation, discussion, case study practice, experiential learning with meeting processes, practical exercises, optional diagnostic and coaching

Cost:

UWA staff members and UWA affiliates will receive priority in gaining access to this session. Participant enrolment in this workshop will be confirmed following the closing date for applications. Please note a cancellation fee may apply for non-attendees. We also welcome enrolment by non-UWA participants, subject to availability. The commercial fee for non-UWA attendees is calculated at $100 per hour of attendance. Staff working in other universities will receive a 20% discount on the commercial fee.
