Abstract
Education in Nigeria: A futuristic perspective
Tola Olujuwon, Central Educational Service, Nigeria
This paper gives a broad overview of tertiary educational development in Nigeria with the hope of assessing how far the Nigerian schools have performed. In the late 1960's, Nigerians reached a consensus about the purpose of education. Unfortunately, successive governments seem not to focus on the goals of education. The implementation of policies has been the major bane to educational development in Nigeria. The paper identifies current challenges and offers suggestions for the future direction of tertiary education in Nigeria.
Key words: Implementation; Challenges; Attitudinal
Objectives, outcomes and activities: that participants would see the need to revamp the Nigerian Education.
- To bring to the fore the present Nigerian Educational System and how to revamp it;
- To explore possible areas of co-operation; and
- To examine case studies from other areas if possible.
